Se eu pudesse saber o que Ele planejou pra mim...

Senhor, Mestre e Rei

Com que frequência chamo Jesus de "meu Senhor", "meu Mestre", "meu Rei"? Sempre!

Mas será que realmente paro para pensar no que significa estar sob o Senhorio de Jesus, ser sua discípula, sua aprendiz, ser serva do Rei Jesus. Hummm... I don't think so!

Acho que às vezes, na maioria das vezes, perco a noção de quem Jesus realmente é, e prefiro chamá-lo de amigo, de amado, não somente porque o amo, mas porque isso tira um pouco a completa e única autoridade dEle sobre a minha vida. Embora eu não acho que faço isso conscientemente, visto que hoje quando parei para meditar sobre o texto de Lucas 6.27-49 me dei conta desse fato.

Wow!

Jesus fez umas declarações que são difíceis de digerir. Ô meu Pai!

"Mas aos que estão dispostos a ouvir, Eu digo, amem seus inimigos! Façam o bem aqueles que vos odeiam. Abençoem aqueles que vos amaldiçoam. Orem por aqueles que vos magoam."

How's that, Jesus?! So difficult!

Logo em seguida, Jesus não me deu nem tempo de respirar e processar a informação e, como se eu não tivesse entendido da primeira vez, Ele resolveu explicar nos míiiiiiiiiinimos detalhes:

"Ame seus inimigos! Faça o bem a eles. Empreste a eles sem esperar recompensa. FAZENDO ISSO sua recompensa nos céus será grande, e você estará agindo como verdadeira filha do Deus Altíssimo, porque Ele é bom até para com os ingratos e ímpios. Você deve ser misericordiosa tanto quanto o seu Pai é misericordioso."

Take a deep breath!

Jesus não parou por aí, Ele foi mais além, como se isso já não tivesse sido duro o bastante de ouvir...

"Então por que você continua me chamando "Senhor, Senhor!" quando você não faz o que eu digo?"

Nessa hora, eu paro tudo, respiro fundo e peço perdão, peço forças, peço Graça, peço que Ele me lembre disso todos os dias quando alguém pisar no meu calo, me olhar com a cara feia, fizer algo que me desagrade, me magoe, ..., mesmo que eu não chame isso de ódio, mesmo que eu não os classifique como meus inimigos. Melhor ainda!!! Tenho ainda mais motivos para seguir as ordens do meu Senhor, do meu Mestre, do meu Rei.

Right?!

A verdade é que:

"Muitas pessoas pensam em Jesus como um homem amável, até como um homem excelente, que ensinou grandes verdades. Mas o problema é que essas mesmas pessoas deixam de ver Jesus como uma figura de autoridade. Elas não acham que Ele tem nenhuma influência, nem mesmo na menor área de suas vidas. Elas não entendem que Jesus não é só um professor querido, um gigante em gentileza, ou um guru profundo. Ele é o Criador e absoluto Soberano do universo (Colossenses 1.16-20). Ele tem toda autoridade (Mateus 28.18). Ele tem todo o direito de nos dizer como viver, e Ele tem todo poder sobre as forças do universo -- natural, físico e espiritual.

Sempre que você ouvir os ensinamentos de Jesus, veja-os como mandamentos para a vida. Leia-os como se eles fossem dirigidos diretamente para você. Jesus não veio apenas para nos inspirar, mas para nos reivindicar para si.

Você pode chamá-lo de Senhor, Mestre e Rei??"

Types of readers

What type of reader are you?

"... the unspoken hierarchy of readers and the private way in which they tackle a book.

At the top of the heap are the purists - people who read to soak up the elegantly constructed literary style and savor the brilliant metaphors, inventive characters, breathtaking imagery, and sparkling dialogue. The story is beside the point.

Not far behind are the academics - readers who never quite got over how they read a book in their freshman English Class, underlining or highlighting, turning down pages, looking up words they're not familiar with, and scribbling pithy comments in the margins.

The book worshipers come next. They keep their books covered (and not because they're romance novels), use bookmarks, and absolutely never let the book touch the floor. They look at the book as a sentient being, a living, breathing object of desire that needs to be treated with absolute respect. They read every word, even the footnotes.

Then, there are the readers who just want a good old-fashioned story and make no bones about it. They skip over long descriptive passages, skim though digressions, and zero in on who, what, and where to the nth degree.

A subcategory of this is people who read books for sex, violence, or any other particular proclivity, and speed-read passages that don't interest them.

Or how about the multitask readers, those who read while cooking , cleaning , talking on the phone, or driving. Which is stupid - not that I haven't done it.

The bottom-feeders come next and include the status readers, a group of wannabes who don't really want to read the book at all but want to be seen with it, like arm candy, the proverbial young blonde on the arm of a tycoon. They skim the book for plot and carry it around like a designer bag.

Even worse are the people who listen to audio books, the new version of condensed books, the new version of condensed books, or read novelizations of current movies. These people consider themselves readers, but they're not. What's most annoying is when they join in a conversation and act as though they've actually read it.

I group the narcoleptic readers in this nonreader category. People who use books as Ambien and have had the same book sitting on their bedside table for the last six months.

Also the bathroom readers - you know, the ones with the magazine racks near their toilets. I have never personally engaged in this activity because my mother insists that it gives you hemorrhoids. And who would want THAT?

Then there are the readers who like to hang out in bookstore cafés nursing tepid cappuccinos, hogging the table for hours while they leisurely read unpurchased books, leaving them in piles on the table for the sales-people to put away.

And let's not forget the hopeless unfinishers -- people who like choosing books, buying books, starting books, but the one thing they can't seem to do is finish books. They continually deceive themselves, thinking this is the one book they are going to read all the way through, and I do think they are well-intentioned, but like diets and New Year's resolutions, the will to persevere usually fades. I must confess that sometimes I fall into this category.

The most frustrating category of all includes people who read a book and just don't get it. I know, I'm a snob. I admit it. But once they tell you their analysis, there is really nothing you can do except change the subject."

I loved it!!!

Estou na minha leitura de número 155 desde que me embrenhei nesse caminho sem volta. O livro chama-se "Book Lover" e os seguintes trechos [desta vez em inglês] me inspiraram a iniciar este blog pra compartilhar algumas das minhas passagens favoritas e fragmentos que eu fico com vontade de gritar pra o mundo todo ouvir. Então... quem quiser ler, é bem-vindo!!!
